Summer Festival Essentials
Summer is just around the corner, and with the warm weather comes festivals galore! Whether you're going to Pitchfork, Lollapalooza, Movement, or Mamby on the Beach, here are some essentials you may want to have ready for festival season.
HANDS-FREE BAG - Want to throw your hands in the air like you just don't care? Get a bag that won't slide off your shoulder. Tote bags are cute, but really annoying when you're moving around and dancing. Try bringing a small backpack, cross-body bag, or belt bag. Yes, belt bag is essentially a fanny pack, but they are a bit more structured and less 90s soccer mom. If you like to travel super light, a belt bag is perfect for carrying just your phone, wallet, and keys. If you like to be a little more prepared, opt for a small backpack or cross-body and continue reading.
EARPLUGS - One of my absolute worst fears is damaging my hearing, so I almost always travel with a pair of earplugs because I never know where the day or night will take me! Any set of earplugs will protect your ears from potential damage, but if you're an audiophile, you may want to look into custom options. I personally lose earplugs quite often, so the most I've spent is $13 on a pair from Etymotic Research, and I've been quite pleased with them. I find that they reduce volume without muffling the music.
EXTRA BATTERY - Every festival has lines of people waiting around to charge their phone at a branded charging station. Bring your own and skip the wait! The phone cases with a built in battery are pretty handy since you won't need to bring an extra cables, but if you don't want to swap out your current phone case, bring an external battery.
WATER BOTTLE - It's easy to forget to drink water when you're out, so carry a bottle with you and stay hydrated. Most festivals don't allow you to bring in any outside beverages, but you can bring in an empty bottle and fill it up inside . It's more sustainable than buying bottled water, and tap water is often better quality than bottled because bottled water is less regulated. If you haven't seen it before, check out The Story of Bottled Water. And if you're still skeptical of tap, look into the Bobble water bottle linked below. It has a built in filter!
SUN PROTECTION - You already know how important it is to treat your eyes and skin with care! This is just a friendly reminder to pack your sunglasses, hat, and sunblock.
I hope this list of festival essentials was helpful. Have fun out there!
